The Law Forum academic certificate program is open to all
UCI students who meet the program prerequisites, including a membership interview.
The Law Forum also represents a community of UCI students with a
particularly strong interest in law and its role in society. Law Forum
members find a great deal in common during their time in the program. In
addition to completing the academic certificate requirements, many members take
advantage of the following periodic opportunities:
-
Guest
Debater or Guest Judge ―
Students who have completed the "Advocacy"
course often enjoy participating as a member of
a special exhibition debate team or visiting subsequent Advocacy classes as
a guest judge.
-
Paper
Presenter ―
Law Forum members are encouraged to present their research papers to their
peers in a small group setting. This provides valuable public speaking
experience as well as useful insight for possible paper revision.
-
Journal Editor ―
Law Forum members
are also encouraged to serve as editorial interns or lead editors, under the
supervision of the Law Forum Alumni Association, while preparing
articles for publication in
the
Law Forum
Alumni Journal.
This provides exposure to cutting edge legal issues and professional
communication techniques, as well as
individual responsibility, effective leadership and teamwork.
In addition, the
Law Forum Alumni Association sponsors a
variety of events on and off campus throughout the year, enabling current and former Law Forum members to keep in contact
both during and after their time at UCI.
