The first Women’s Marches helped engage many of their participants politically, and that mobilization didn’t end after the marches concluded, said David S. Meyer, professor of sociology at the University of California, Irvine. … Marches and demonstrations have to be tied to other political activities. While the iconic protest events can be dramatic and powerful, the politics and change that emerges is usually on a smaller scale and incremental, he said.
