Long Institute: Call for Graduate Student Research Grants

Are you a graduate student who is currently enrolled and in good standing at UC Irvine? Does your dissertation
focus on the PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and/or the Chinese diaspora? You are eligible
to apply for the 2025 Long Institute Graduate Student Research Grant competition!
Eligibility
Current graduate students in a PhD, MA, or MFA program at UC Irvine, whose research focuses on the PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and/or the Chinese diaspora and aligns with the Long Institute Focus Areas. Grants may be used for travel and lodging for fieldwork, data collection, conference support, and/or other costs directly related to the research project.
Please note: Not all projects will be funded for the full amount requested. Applicants who have not previously received funds from the Long Institute will be prioritized.
Application Materials

Application Materials
1. A one-page project narrative, describing your research and explaining why you are
seeking support from the Long Institute.
2. A detailed budget and budget narrative, describing how and when you intend to use
the funds. Applicants can apply for up to $1,000 in grant funding.
Deadline for Submission
Email your project narrative and budget to Emily Baum, emily.baum@uci.edu, no later than 5pm PT on Friday, March 21. Applicants will be notified of the results by the middle of April.
