Opinion: I’ve seen how the power of education can fight inequality

Chris Boyd, a writer and filmmaker from San Diego, who is currently producing and directing a film about the LIFTED program inside of Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, writes, “Over the last six months, while producing and directing a documentary film about the University of California, Irvine’s LIFTED program inside Donovan, I have seen the implementation of a new educational program that offers UC bachelor’s degrees to incarcerated individuals, some of whom are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.”
