Brian Jenkins, UCI Associate Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Economics [said]: “Stagflation is a recession accompanied by high inflation. … Indicators of inflation (e.g., CPI growth) show slowing price growth, and indicators of real economic activity (e.g., employment or real GDP growth) also show improvement.”
