Researchers at UC Irvine and Texas A&M did a study on this with the kids. They surveyed kids ages 3 to 10 in the U.S. and China and they found that even the toddlers notice moms did more around the house. But the surprising thing was, they didn’t mind – they thought it was normal. Researchers [including Nadia Chernyak, UCI assistant professor of cognitive sciences] conclude that yes, kids are observing – and if they think it’s normal now, there’s a chance they might think it’s normal when they grow up.
