Experts say robots might take your restaurant job – and sooner than you think

It will take just over a decade for robots to develop the skills and intelligence to be fully capable of replacing human workers on relatively simple tasks, like taking food orders or making standardized orders, experts said. To fully supplant humans, robots would need to perform multiple tasks and respond to unanticipated problems … "There is still a long way to go before they can even remotely replace humans, unless it's in a very constrained environment," said Jeff Krichmar, a professor [in cognitive sciences and computer science] at the University of California, Irvine.
