U.S. House passes bill to extend age discrimination protections to job applicants

David Neumark, a University of California, Irvine economist [and Distinguished Professor] who worked on both studies, said there is “clear evidence” of age discrimination in hiring practices, especially against older women. “All the research, when it directly tests for discrimination, implies more older people would be working if we reduced age discrimination,” he said.
