- Soc sci team logs more than 7-million steps in UCI walking challenge
Seven staffers in the School of Social Sciences have taken UCI’s Step Up challenge to heart. Competing against others throughout the Irvine campus, the SOC SCIety of Walkers each logged more than 750,000 steps over a span of four months to earn top honors - and really cool sweatshirts - in UCI’s heart-healthy walking challenge. Congratulations to these soc sciers who together racked up 7,247,842 steps from October to January! And in case you’re wondering, that’s roughly 3,624 miles – the equivalent of walking to our nation’s capital (to say a quick hello to Anteater UCDC interns), and then detouring south for a stop at Disneyworld in Orlando. What a trek, SOCSCIety of Walkers! Zot, zot, zot!
