Coinhive, the prospect of a website co-opting their computers to mine cryptocurrency
may seem invasive. Bill Maurer, director of the Institute for Money, Technology and
Financial Inclusion at the University of California, Irvine, said, “It depends on
a pretty sophisticated consumer … you need to have a certain level of geekiness.”
