UC Irvine Professor of Economics Jan Brueckner then took the stage first to discuss
one of the greatest concerns for employers in Irvine; the need for more affordable
workforce housing. Statewide, a serve shortage of housing for all types of workers
is posing a major threat to attracting and retaining skilled labor. Irvine is one
of California’s premier job centers. Yet, housing costs continue to escalate.
