$15 minimum wage increase will affect 605,000 O.C. workers over seven years

Economists are divided over the new law. UC Irvine’s David Neumark has suggested a
$15 minimum could reduce employment among the least skilled by 10 percent or more.
“While some gain, others lose,” he said in an email Monday. “The majority of poor
families have no workers,” he added. “I would prefer honest [income] redistribution
that taxes those who earn the most, and targets those with the lowest incomes, and
especially low-income families with children.”
