Despite demographics, Riverside County board remains homogenous

Riverside County is growing more diverse ethnically, and Latinos make up close to
half the population. But one wouldn't know that by the ease with which three county
supervisors all of them white recaptured seats in Tuesday's primary despite challenges
from Latino candidates, one of whom was well-funded and well-known… Simply "having
a Latino candidate on the ballot doesn't get people to the polls," said Louis DeSipio,
a professor of political science and Chicano/Latino studies at UC Irvine.
