Bravo UCI: Chicano/Latino chair earns highest faculty distinction

Vicki Ruiz, history professor and chairwoman of the Chicano/Latino studies department,
was recently named a Distinguished Professor, the highest-level distinction for UC
Irvine faculty… Three UC Irvine professors are the recipients of 2013 National Institutes
of Health Director’s New Innovator Awards. Each professor will receive an award of
$1.5 million over five years that will directly support research projects. The award
was given to 41 people in the United States.
