Job market toughens as grads begin seeking

For a class of graduating seniors that has had the economic downturn weighing on
them since they started college, the latest U.S. jobs numbers are simply a reminder
they must position themselves as competitively as possible - and be prepared for disappointments.
"Pretty much it's come to the point where I know the job market is pretty bad," said
UC Irvine graduating senior John Torre, 22, a political science major applying to
jobs in public policy and politics. "But the network I picked up at UC Irvine and
D.C. has really helped me find leads on jobs."
