This year's annual UCI staff appreciation picnic provided a number of Social Sciences
staff an opportunity to showcase their creative talents and artistic abilities as
they competed for top honors in the best themed department contest. Keeping in line
with the "Go Green, UCI! Reuse, Recycle, Renew" theme, staff members constructed a
recycled jungle from discarded cardboard boxes, complete with hand-painted and hand-crafted
jungle animals and a makeshift safari hut. While their efforts didn't win them first
place - an honor that went instead to the Office of the Registrar - the Staff Assembly
sponsored event was a welcomed break for all and a great opportunity for the university
to show appreciation for it's hardworking staff members.
