Professor Benjamin van Rooij will be the keynote speaker at the Winston Lord Roundtable Series on Asia, the Rule of Law, and U.S. Foreign Policy: Why is Xi Jinping Focusing China's Communist Party on the "Rule of Law"?  This event is presented by the Asia Studies Program at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.  Full details below:

October’s fourth plenary session of the Party central committee will focus on the rule of law for the first time. Professor Van Rooij, a leading authority on China’s law and government, will discuss the challenges confronting the PRC in dealing with corruption, pollution, taxation, labor, food safety, and land use, and the urgent need to improve regulation and implementation. Professors Minzner and Li will add their own distinct expert perspectives.
