The Long Institute will co-host a reception and presentation by Dr. Jesse Wang on China's financial markets and economy. Dr. Wang has served in major leadership capacities both within the Chinese government and in the financial sector. He has a unique vantage point from which to view China's economy in the global market and has played an important role in transforming China's rapidly changing financial sector landscape. Below is a brief biography of Dr. Wang.

Before his retirement in March 2013, Dr. Wang was an Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of China Investment Corporation (CIC), China's sovereign wealth fund which manages the country's vast $3.8 trillion of foreign-currency reserves. Prior to joining CIC, Dr. Wang was Vice Chairman of Central Huijin Investment Ltd and Chairman of China International Capital Corporation (CICC).  He also served as Chief Accountant, Director General of the International Department and then Assistant Chairman at China Securities Regulatory Commission, China's securities regulator. He also held senior positions at the Bank of China International Holdings.  In addition, Mr. Wang served as a commissioner of the United Nations Compensation Commission between 1999 and 2004. Dr. Wang is also a board member of the China Boyuan Foundation, which focuses on research related to China's macro-economic and international relations.
