On November 9 and 10, the Long Institute is involved in a major research capacity building exercise to enhance empirical research methods for Chinese legal research. During a two day intensive training program Chinese graduate students will receive hands on training from leading experts with years of local Chinese field work experience.  Long Institute Academic director will act as one of the trainers. The training program is hosted by Yunnan University School of Law, Vice Dean professor Wang Qiliang. Wang is a long-term collaborator of Van Rooij and thus also now the Long Institute.
