Workers’ Competition Effects of Ethnic Discrimination in Hiring
The Center for Demographic and Social Analysis presents
“Workers’ Competition Effects of Ethnic Discrimination in Hiring”
with Luca Fumarco, Ph.D. Student, School of Business and Economics, Linnæus University
April 9, 2013
12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Social Science Plaza B, Room 4250
Fumarco re-analyzes experimental data from three correspondence tests and investigate the role played by workers’ competition on discrimination in hiring at three different levels, namely vacancy, occupational, and local levels. Fumarco finds that competition determines the chances to obtain an interview, and, most interestingly, that an increase in competition at occupational level reduces discrimination in a statistically significant way.
