The Center for the Study of Democracy presents the 2002-03 Peltason Lecture

"Politics IS a Contact Sport”
with Sen. Alan K. Simpson (R-Wyo, 1979-97)

Thursday, May 2, 2002
3:30 p.m.
Social Science Plaza A, Room 1100

One of the most provocative and articulate members of the U.S. Senate in the last quarter century, Simpson is known for his bipartisan work on immigration and veterans' issues-and his clashes with the press corps. The author of "Right in the Old Gazoo," a critical view of the media's coverage of American politics and politicians, Simpson will answer questions following his presentation. The free event is sponsored by UCI's Center for the Study of Democracy; Simpson is a guest of the political science department.

The Peltason Lecture on Democracy brings leading political figures to the campus to share their experiences and insights with UCI students, faculty, staff and local community members. The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation provides support for the Peltason Lecture.
