Dosher, Solingen honored by National Academy of Sciences for research achievements
Social sciences scholars awarded for work on human cognition, nuclear proliferation
Barbara Dosher and Etel Solingen, both University of California, Irvine scholars in the School of Social Sciences, have been honored by the National Academy of Sciences for major contributions to their fields.
Dosher, UCI Distinguished Professor of cognitive sciences, will share the Atkinson Prize in Psychological & Cognitive Sciences with Richard Shiffrin of Indiana University. Dosher is recognized for her groundbreaking work on human memory, attention and learning. Each recipient will receive $100,000.
Solingen, the Thomas T. & Elizabeth C. Tierney Chair in Global Peace & Conflict Studies, will be presented with the William & Katherine Estes Award for trailblazing work on nuclear proliferation and reducing the risks of nuclear war. She will receive a $20,000 prize.
