#MakeYourMark, Homecoming 2017
Connect with us online and/or in person to share your UCI soc sci Anteater story and network with fellow mark-makers
UCI social sciences Anteaters
are a different breed. We’re bold. We’re out there in the
world, making our mark, while sharing a bond and connection
with all those who have ever called UCI home. Last month, we
launched a campaign to collect stories and notes from soc
sci Anteaters who are making their mark, and we’ve gotten
such incredible responses! We invite you to check out our
social media channels to read more about people like Hui-Ling Malone, ’11 international studies, who has spent the
last three years in Detroit with Teach for America and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in education. And Paul Brentson, ’69
anthropology, who wrote in how his major taught him that
life is all about people...“everyone comes from a unique set
of circumstances and social backgrounds, and I realized that
to have a successful career and to enjoy life, I needed to
appreciate and respect those differences.” He recently
retired from a 26-year run as the hospital administrator of
the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at the UC Davis.
We’d love to connect with more of you and hear how UCI soc sci has played a
role in your career and your accomplishments and what you’re doing with your
Anteater education today. Connect online via social media with
#MakeYourMark, email us at alumni@socsci.uci.edu or click here to update
and share your information.
And for those who like the in-person, social approach - which we happen
to love over here - come join us for Homecoming this month! The weekend
of festivities begins Feb 24 with reunion celebrations for the classes of
1967-77. Then, on Saturday, Feb 25, join us in Aldrich Park for live
music, dance performances, fireworks, a beer garden and more. Soc sci
alumni are invited to celebrate with us before tip-off in our school-sponsored BBQ in the Social Sciences Tent, hosted by dean Bill Maurer. Join fellow alumni for
good food and fun before the Anteaters take on Cal State Northridge at
7:30 p.m. in the Bren Center.
