Note that street festival activities will move indoors due to forecasted rain. The Dragon Dance and the Feeding of the Lions will kick-off the celebration at 3:30 p.m. in the Barclay Theatre.

UCI's multicultural celebration is filled with rich traditions such as the red envelope, a colorful parade
with an animated dragon and prancing lions. The stage comes to life through musical performances filled with colorful costumes, while
guests make wishes for hope, health and happiness at the wishing tree. The festival comes to an end
with a wondrous nighttime lightshow, as a nod to the traditional firecrackers, celebrating the coming of
the New Year.

The origins of the Lunar New Year are thousands of years old and steeped in the cultures of China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. Participants enjoy a hands-on exploration of how the holiday is celebrated globally – featuring game booths, and arts and crafts stations.
Participation is free and open to students and community members. |

An inside look at the Philadelphia Orchestra's historic 1973 tour at the dawn of China's music revival.
The film reveals how this artistic reawakening in China synergized the world of music. A conversation and Q&A will follow with co-producer Jennifer Lin, conductor Jindong Cai and historian Sheila Melvin, facilitated by HU Ying, professor and chair of UCI's Department of East Asian Studies.

This special event is a fun-filled day for family and members of the community. The festival comes alive
with Asian-inspired delectable bites, colorful costumes, featuring the traditional dragon dance, the
feeding of the lions, UCI Hansori, Hikari Taiko Drummers, UCI KPOP, along with musical and dance
performances.
*Be sure to find a seat early for the Dragon Dance and Feeding of the Lions*
Admission to the festival is free and open to the public; no RSVPs or tickets required.

This event is free and open to the public. Barclay Theatre events requiring seat reservations - as noted above - must be scheduled online. UCI guest parking is available for $2 per hour or $13 per day in the Social Science Parking Structure or Student Center Parking Structure.
