Neuromorphic chips are destined for deep learning—or obscurity

Emre Neftci, with the University of California, Irvine’s Neuromorphic Machine Intelligence Lab, said that when combined with faster silicon chips, these new, improved neural networks allowed computers to make dramatic advances in classic computing problems, such as image recognition.
