Political scientist Mark Petracca, associate dean of UC Irvine’s School of Social
Sciences, said Spitzer’s spending could prompt other committee campaigns. “If this
quote unquote works, my guess is you’ll see an explosion of these kinds of second
committees, created precisely as a way of circumventing fundraising laws,” he said.
