At talk in Irvine, Giuliani backs immigration overhaul

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said the GOP needs to move ahead with the
sort of immigration overhauls that were backed by President George W. Bush, Sen. John
McCain and himself six years ago — a plan similar to that being proposed by Sen. Marco
Rubio, R-Fla. Giuliani offered thoughts about the Republican Party's future to several
reporters Tuesday afternoon before giving a 70-minute speech on leadership to a UC
Irvine audience of about 400.
