The event will feature aa gallery of images of W.E.B. Du Bois in Japan and China in the 1930s and the 1950s and presentations by:
Annmaria Shimabuku, University of California, Riverside
Jane Yamashiro, Loyola Marymount University
Nahum Chandler, University of California, Irvine
Sonia Ryang, University of Iowa
This symposium is convened on the occasion of the publication of a special issue of the journal CR: The New Centennial Review. The issue includes contributions from Sonia Ryang, John G. Russell, Koya Nomura, Annmaria Shimabuku, Jane Yamashiro, and Nahum Dimitri Chandler, as well as previously unpublished writings of the 1930s on Japan and China by W. E. B. Du Bois.
