The University of California, Irvine's Kristin Turney published findings in 2014 that
children with an incarcerated parent experienced depression at rates more than three
times higher than children without an incarcerated parent, as well as significantly
higher rates of anxiety, attention deficit disorder, behavior problems, speech problems,
asthma, obesity, epilepsy, and other conditions.
